After Saphalam and December, director Ashok R. Nath comes up with Mizhikal Sakshi, a very sensitive, touching and powerful movie. The film takes us into the life of an aged woman named Kuniyamma, whose life is one of untold woes.
Her son, who was an idealistic teacher and a rebel too, was sentenced to death on charges of being an extremist. And the news of her son's hanging shatters Kuniyamma so much that she loses her mental balance. And then, in a trance-like condition, Kuniyamma begins a search for her son, not ready to take into account the truth that her son is no more. And this search takes Kuniyamma into a world of exploration of new realities.
Veteran actress Sukumari plays the key role of Kuniyamma, a very powerful and well-etched out character. Mohanlal does a cameo, playing the role of Kuniyamma's son. All the other actors in the film, namely Nedumudi Venu, Krishnaprasad, Vineeth, Kochupreman, Mala Aravindan etc get to do roles that are very powerful and rather different from the ones we get to see in mainstream Malayalam Cinema.
The fact that veterans like Sukumari, ONV Kurup, Dakshinamoorthy, Yesudas etc come together makes the film stand out. Shot on locations in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, Mizhikal Sakshi is all set for release this month.
