Sonia Agarwal debut with the 2002 Telugu film Nee Premakai, in which she did a small cameo role, after which she acted in a Kannada film Chandu opposite Sudeep. After that she stepped into the Tamil film, appearing in the film Kaadhal Kondein, directed by Selvaraghavan, whom she would marry later. Acting opposite Selvaraghavan's brother Dhanush, the film became a huge success and she was widely appreciated for her performance as Divya in the film, which brought her to limelight and fetched her several awards. Pudhupettai, released more than three years ago, remains her most recent film as she later got married. Recent news is that she is debuting in to Malayam movie which is untitled till now.
